Idea Mine

> This is a fun game. A good place to start while writing together.

## What is Idea Mining? Idea mining is a collaborative writing process where individuals interact with a shared text — in this case, the hitchhiker’s manifesto. Participants read the text and highlight phrases, concepts, or ideas that resonate with them, whether through agreement, curiosity, or emotional impact. They focus on extracting five or six key ideas and emphasize crafting memorable, poetic, and well-formatted titles for these ideas.

## How the Writing Process Works Participants select interesting phrases, link them with double square brackets ( ), and possibly adjust them for better titles. After identifying a few ideas, each person creates wiki pages for selected concepts. These pages are typically short (3-4 paragraphs) and present personal reflections, questions, definitions, or creative explorations such as poems, videos, or songs. The approach encourages opinionated, personal contributions over neutral summaries, fostering a diverse, lively chorus of perspectives.

## The Interview Format of Idea Mining In the interview version, participants still mine ideas from the text but frame them as questions for each other. Each person prepares a few links (questions) aimed at the other participant. During the interview, questions are selected (perhaps randomly via an “improbability drive”), and responses are recorded, transcribed, and summarized using AI. The resulting material — video, transcript, and summary — is uploaded to a wiki page. Participants can later refine these summaries into more personalized pages.

## Goals and Social Aspect The main objectives are collaborative engagement, creating a rich tapestry of perspectives, and developing a dynamic repository of ideas. The process is designed to be enjoyable, social, and creatively stimulating, ultimately resulting in a robust collection of reflections and interpretations around a common theme.
